Goldener Hirsch restaurant
The most coveted tables during the Salzburg Festival are those of the largest restaurant in the Hotel Goldener Hirsch. Numerous stars from the field of classical music dined here. Like the hotel, the restaurant is a gem and the food (mainly traditional Austrian dishes) is absolutely excellent.

This lovely microbrewery has many traditional dishes on its menu. It also invites you to an attached Italian trattoria and has a large garden and a self-service bar for those in a hurry. During the dinner the Sound of Music Show (against admission) is offered. The brewery is located in a courtyard between Griesgasse and Getreidegasse.

St. Peter’s Abbey Cellar
Charlemagne is said to have dined in Austria’s oldest restaurant by far – the origins of which date back approximately 1,200 years to the Carolingian era. Despite its age, the restaurant is in excellent condition and filled with life and it offers the most extraordinary culinary experiences in all of Salzburg. The candlelit Mozart dinner concerts in the Baroque Hall are magical.

Housed in the hotel of the same name, the White Cross is easily found at the foot of the imposing Hohensalzburg Fortress. The menu offers both hearty Austrian dishes and specialties from the Balkans, which are best washed down in Central European style with one of the 10 schnapps on offer.

This small bar / restaurant is located near the old town and, despite the low prices, has a surprisingly varied menu. A nice selection of dishes is complemented with many types of beer. The Republic turns into a club in the late evening.
